Common Settings for Multiplayer Games
Unfortunately we can't post images with this forum so I'll try to explain it clearly..
Create a game and then look for the section where you can select the settings, the Buttons are labeled GAME ADVANCED MAP ENVIRONMENT.
Above the Buttons is a check box called Sole Survivor, un-tick this so you don't have to declare war in the game.
Click the GAME section.
Select the Epoch Range: 5 to 5 is a common Epoch range.
Resources: Low
Game Pace: Either Fast or Medium
Initial Cease Fire: No more than 5 minutes.
Citizens: 10 and no more.
Now click the ADVANCED Button
Game Speed: Fast (or Normal for Tournament speed games)
Reveal Map: Explored
City Population: 60
Now click the MAP Button
Map Size: Tiny or Small for 1v1s, Small for 1v1s or 2v2s, Medium for 2v2s or 3v3s etc.
Rivers: None (they are simply annoying)
Forestation: I prefer medium, heavy is a bit hard to work with and Low is well too low.
Geography: Plains is usually preferable
Elevation: Lowlands is usually preferable
Now click the ENVIRONMENT Button
Cycle Seasons: un-ticked
Enable Weather: un-ticked
Enable Wind: un-ticked
Thats a pretty standard setup that is approved by 90% of players.
